A Time to Learn and a Time to Celebrate
When I started Divine28, I began hosting events to share information with my fellow moms about puberty and menstruation. This is one of the most rewarding part of my journey.
Sometimes the events are just for moms, and sometimes the events include daughters. And while the events are full of information about puberty and what to expect, and what kinds of products are available, the events are also fun, and include some quality “girl time.” When I give presentations at these events I often include information about what it was like for women in the past, and what kinds of menstrual support products were available.
At my last party I shared a photo I had found of something called a Menstrual Apron from the Sears & Roebuck Catalog in 1914.
The girls and their moms gasped when I showed this photo. Imagine! This is what women used to wear during their menstrual cycle! Fortunately today we have much better options.
At another recent event, not only did we have moms and daughters, we had a grandmother in her 70's join us! It was so rewarding to see three generations of women celebrating this special time together.
Here’s the note I recently received:
Hi Gina,
Celebration Kit
I just wanted to share with you that my daughter started her period today ( just shy of her 15th birthday).
We were so thrilled to have had a First Period Celebration Kit gift for her and also a BRB Kit with her supplies all ready for school tomorrow!
Be Right Back Kit
It was a positive day and it feels good to be prepared! Thinking of you and feeling thankful!

This sums up why I started Divine28, and what keeps me going–knowing that I am helping moms and daughters–and even some grandmothers–be prepared and ready to celebrate this important time in a young woman’s life.
